For decades, he has used his dental skills in mission settings, traveling internationally to provide care and serve communities where access to dental treatment may be limited. From international mission clinics to community outreach close to home, his philosophy is simple: use the skills you have to help people who need them.

Dr. Schubert Lynn Sapian, DDS, earned his degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1997 and has practiced as a general dentist and implantologist in the Dallas–Fort Worth area ever since. From early in his career, he has participated in local and international mission service — using his professional skills to serve communities where access to dental care may be limited. His mission work has included both clinical dentistry and close collaboration with fellow volunteers, and it has shaped his approach to patient care in profound ways.

Where Mission and Dentistry Came Together
A Loma Linda University profile documents Dr. Sapian working in a makeshift dental clinic in Mindanao, Philippines, where he encountered challenging tooth-root extractions in a remote mission setting. Traditional extraction techniques proved difficult and time-consuming in that environment — and that experience prompted a question that would change his clinical practice: could there be a more efficient, minimally invasive way to remove tooth roots?
Mission experience became the spark for clinical innovation — a problem encountered in the field became a solution that would benefit patients everywhere.

Serving Around the World
Dr. Sapian has regularly participated in international dental mission service. His documented international mission work includes service in the Philippines, where mission environments provided both the opportunity to serve and the inspiration for dental innovation. In 2017, he presented "Dental Mission Vision: Minimally Invasive Extractions" through the Academy of Dentistry International, sharing what he had learned from years of mission dentistry.

Mission Work Doesn't Require Crossing an Ocean
In March 2026, Dr. Sapian participated in a free dental clinic at Garland Faith Community Seventh-day Adventist Church — a collaborative effort in partnership with Texas A&M University College of Dentistry and other dental volunteers. The event provided free screenings, cleanings, fillings, and extractions to community members who may have difficulty accessing dental care.
